A holiday in Margherita di Savoia not only means to enjoy the rich iodine air, the wonderful climate and the thermal cures but it also means to have the chance to visit environs of great artistic, cultural, religious and tourist interest.

The closeby Gargano, a marvellous tourist resort with its bays, natural creeks, caves that enrich a crystalline sea; cute, small villages rich of colour and tradition; the Umbra Forest, a protected area with various species of savage animals, defined the “the South forest with North trees” and, last but not least, the villages of San Giovanni Rotondo, where the tomb of the beloved Saint Pio from Pietrelcina lays and Monte Sant'Angelo, an amazing, white ancient village, aim of numerous pilgrims devoted to the Archangel Michael.

The nearby cities of Barletta, with an historical centre lately in great revaluation, or the nice Trani, delicious “pearl”, rich of history and culture, and the glamorous Bisceglie, live a very intense summer season both for their night life and for important events such as: concerts and cultural performances starring famous protagonists of the world of music, TV and entertainment.

You shouldn’t miss visiting the nearest “Canne della Battaglia”, the place of the famous fight between the Carthaginians, lead by Hannibal, and the Roman army, and to the splendid Castel del Monte, a worldwide unique masterpiece, the most important of the Frederican castles. Indeed all the local area has been imprinted by the great Frederick II the Swabian, like Barletta, Trani or Manfredonia: each one of these cities is endowed with an imposing castle, rigorously built on the sea in order to see eventually the enemy ships. There also are numberless towers of sighting spread all over the coast, one of which can be found even in Margherita di Savoia (Saline’s tower or “Torrione”) and another, the “Stone Tower” at about 10 km towards Manfredonia.

Many other beautiful places should be mentioned worthy to see during a holiday in Margherita di Savoia “Terme”, if there are any time and will left by the sun, the sea and a relaxing well-being.
